Kevin Smith Wants Christian Bale’s Batman to Return in The Flash Movie

Kevin Smith has his vision for 2022’s Flash. Christian Bale is back with the other Batman actors. It looks like the DCEU’s first Flash movie, after years of delays and creative adjustments, is now in sight. The Andy Muschietti-directed movie will premiere in November 2022. In his version Flashpoint, it will feature Ezra Miller returning as speedster Barry Allen. Barry returns to save his mom from being killed during that arc. He’s successful in that regard, but he accidentally unleashes a host of multiversal consequences.

This means that The Flash will see realities colliding. Like Spider-Man 2, No Way Home, The Flash will see movie continuity cross over following Barry’s actions. It will not only feature Ben Affleck’s Batman from the DCEU, but it will also return Michael Keaton’s Batman Returns version of the character. It remains to be confirmed whether these Batmen will share the screen in Flash, although fans certainly hope so.

Kevin Smith is a favorite fan filmmaker, and he hopes another Batman appears in The Flash. Smith also expressed his excitement for Keaton’s return to The Flash, saying that the moment would “bring tears of joy” He also shared his hopes that Christian Bale would make a Batman appearance, which could transform The Flash to the DCEU’s Home. Smith stated:

They should bring Christian Bale along to make a No Way Home. If I were them, I would be backing up a money truck to Christian Bale. He’s just asking for two minutes to get him so that we can have our No Way Home.

Spider-Man: No Way Home has its multiversal premise. This allows past villains such as Doc Ock (Alfred Molina) and Electro (Jamie Foxx) to join Tom Holland’s web-slinger. The movie also features Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and their Peter Parker predecessors. In The Flash Affleck, Keaton and Bale would create an identical effect for the DCEU with the Dark Knight himself.

Plot details for Flash are currently being kept secret. It is not clear how Keaton’s Batman appears within the DCEU. There’s no reason why Bale couldn’t reprise his role as Batman, given the limited information available about the movie’s plot. It is possible that Muschietti would bring him back, but it is best to keep the twist a secret until The Flash premieres. The vast majority of No Way Home’s return dates were known in advance, which made for some exciting moments in the theater. However, it would have been more thrilling not to know. Affleck, Keaton, and The Flash are all set. And if Bale is going to be back, that should surprise the audience.
