There are many ways to improve Windows, but the best secret in Windows 10 or 11 is what some call “God Mode.” God Mode is a well-known feature. Since Windows Vista’s launch in 2007, you can create a folder that stores all of the Windows Control Panel information into one list. It doesn’t allow you to cut through walls or make yourself invisible, but it allows you to skip the confusing Windows interface and jump straight into the options.

Bloggers seem to have taken the “God Mode” name very seriously in 2010, likely because it is more catchy than its real name, Windows Master Control Panel shortcut. It doesn’t feel powerful or elusive does it? It is God Mode.

This trick works on Windows 10 and Windows 11. If you still have Windows 7 or 8, it will work. Here’s how it works.

Because the God Mode folder’s real purpose is to serve as a database of names that can be pulled up when you enter them in the Start Menu’s Search bar, its functionality is quite simple. It collects all Control Panel settings (date and time, system restore, etc.) and organizes them into a list that you can search.

This is useful if you frequently access Control Panel settings. You might want to be able to quickly access your Bluetooth or mouse settings without having to do all the clicking required to reach them in the regular Control Panel.

How to enable God Mode on Windows 10 and Windows 11

All you need to enable God Mode is to right-click on a blank area of your desktop and highlight New > Folder. Name your new folder.

GodMode. ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C

To confirm your name, press enter

This is it. The folder icon will be changed to the Control Panel icon. When you open it, you’ll see a large list of options.

To clean up the options list, right-click on any category in the folder and choose “collapse all group”. This should make it easier to manage the 200+ settings.

You can delete the file if you find all this too overwhelming. “God Mode”, despite its name, doesn’t give Windows any powerful or dangerous powers. It organizes all settings in one place.
