Insiders Say Kojima Silent Hill Rumors Are Incorrect
There were a lot of Konami-related rumors this week. Many rumors pointed to a new Castlevania title in development, a remake Metal Gear Solid 3 and, most importantly, a Silent Hill-funded game being developed at Kojima Productions by Hideo Kojima. Silent Hill fans were eager to hear the truth about the new rumor, given Kojima’s beloved Silent Hills demo P.T. Insiders have come forward to confirm that the Kojima Productions Silent Hill rumor may not be true.
Millie Amand, a video game data analyst who leaks information on Silent Hill, responded to a Twitter follower regarding Saturday’s Silent Hill news. When asked if it was true that a new Silent Hill title “is being developed” by Kojima or Sony, Amand replied: “Yes.” Amand replied with a curt, simple “No.” Amand has shared many PlayStation-related news in recent months. Bluepoint’s ongoing projects have been discussed by Amand, who confirmed that Metal Gear is not among them.
Amand’s answer leaves some ambiguity, given her specific response and the fact that she only responded to the question once. However, an insider shared more details of what they heard. Shpeshal_Nick, of the XboxEra Podcast, says his source told him that Hideo Kojima is not working with Konami on Silent Hill. Later, he would repeat the idea by saying that he didn’t believe it was happening regarding Kojima or Silent Hill.
Shpeshal_Nick said that Kojima Productions’ current focus is on its partnership with Xbox in order to develop a new game. He says that the game will be built on an existing IP and not on something new. He does not have any additional details about it. Nor does he mention the possibility that Kojima Productions could be working on multiple projects at once. However, it’s not going to be Silent Hill.
Gematsu’s original reporting is fair, but there is no evidence that this topic is true. Gematsu’s sources claim that Kojima is developing a new Silent Hill video game, while these insiders say it’s not true. It’s possible that all or some of the sources could be incorrect.
All of this begs the question: Is there currently a Silent Hill video game in development? This is a strange situation, considering there are multiple sources that seem to confirm that Konami is reaching to developers in order to get new games made under its most beloved franchises. Multiple sources have reported that Virtuos, a Singapore studio, is working on a Metal Gear Solid 3 remake. A new Castlevania title is also in development. Silent Hill is still a mystery as it should be, just like the horror series.
